Tango-Fantasy

"Tango Fantasy" won the category B in the a composition contest

held by the Finnish Windband Association in April 2004. The 3-part piece (Fanfare; Ballad: Finale) was originally premiered by the Finnish Air Force Band in October 2003.

The compostion is affeceted on a subconscious level by the Finns´ hunger for tango...

Tango Sabroso

In the words of the composer: "You can imagine Tango Sabroso is like a traditional tango in g minor, but section C gives the surprise: Tango changes into latin music. Timpani, marimba and drums are replaced with congas, guiro and claves (three percussionists is enough). It is not worth looking for perfect latin figures, but tango orchestra is supposed to reach Sabroso (spanish) feel, which means sapid. The melody in section C is variying in trumpet, euphonium and clarinet parts. In the last section C  with modulations, the beautiful contrapunctual play joins the sabroso feel."

A divided 3rd prize in the aforementioned Turku 2007 contest.

During the band's existence both the players as well as the conductors have changed,
